  1. This product really exceeded my expectations and is an excellent value. I travel a lot and run through a charge of my iPhone 3GS at least once a day. The Satechi iCel 4400 is able to charge my phone at least 4 times before it must be recharged itself.

I especially like the soft drawstring pouch which comes with the unit.

As a bonus, it will charge my iPhone mini-speaker system and my Sony Reader (with a plug adapter) – up to 8 times on its own charge

It is a compact, very attractive and well-designed product; definitely one of the best iPhone accessories. Highly recommended.

The iCel is a great product. I knew I would like this battery pack as soon as I opened the box. The packaging of this item was impressive. The carrying case that is included will also help keep things nice while traveling.

Being able to charge on the go is great when you do not have access to an outlet or a computer charger. This would be ideal for college students in particular. For example, if a student forgets to charge their iPhone or iPod overnight. When they are leaving for classes they realize that they forgot to charge the phone, but they have to make a lot of calls. They could connect this battery pack to the device and slip it into a backpack. Then the phone or MP3 player will be charging while walking to class….problem solved!

The performance of this battery pack is also impressive. After my first use, the battery was giving my iTouch about 19 hours worth of additional operating. This was with the iTouch playing music non-stop and keeping the screen lit to use as much power as I could. That is a tremendous amount of time from a battery this small. It also charged my iTouch 3 times before I needed to recharge the battery pack.

I did have one problem with the supplied USB cord as soon as I took it out of the packaging. I took the battery pack from the box straight to my computer to do an initial charge. When I was plugging in the small end of the USB cord into the battery pack I realized that the rectangular casing was missing. I knew it had been there just a minute ago and found each half on the ground behind me. I have never seen a connector come apart like this. It was an easy fix though. I put a touch of superglue along the edge and pressed the casing back on the connector. This has been the only problem I have had so far with this battery.

From packaging to styling to performance, this battery pack is a great buy!

  3. this beautiful unit WORKS GREAT and last a long time. I browsed for a while before deciding on this and I LOVE IT. It gives you a usb port for charging anything on the go. Battery status button reminds me of my macbook. If you want extra charge for ANY usb device, this is the one.

I initially bought this for my Zune but it didn’t arrive in time for my trip (my own fault; I ordered it too late). My girlfriend uses it for the latest IPOD classic. She has charged her IPOD a total of four times. The first two times were while listening to it for a couple hours. The second two times were without playing music. This thing chrages her IPOD in an hour to 100%. It’s a good charge too – meaning the IPOD would last just as long as if you charged it with your PC. After all this, the battery meter reads 3/5 cells left. Abosolutely amaing performance.

The plastic piece on the mini usb port came loose and I had to tape it to hold it in place. But since it’s a standard cable, I could use another one if I wanted.

This purchase has been great even though I don’t use it for its original intended purpose. But I would not hesitate buying it again.

I bought this battery pack because I routinely run the battery on my iPhone down below 20%. I did not want to buy a battery-in-a-case solution such as the Mophie Juicepack because I have read many reviews that point to the fact that these battery-case solutions can significantly dampen the phone’s ability to receive signal. The Satechi pack is a small battery that allows me to recharge my iPhone on the fly up to two times before it needs recharging, and it’s relatively small footprint means I can carry it anywhere I go. Charging it can take over an hour. Just make sure you use a powered USB hub, or, of using a laptop, make sure you use the main USB port, that draws more power. If not, you will not be able to recharge the pack to full charge, and it will overheat the USB cord quickly. Finally, you can use the iPhone’s own charger to recharge the battery, but only the old style, larger charger. The newer, smaller charger (sold with the newer iPhone 3GS) is not powerful enough to handle the power draw of the battery pack as it charges, and all it will do is overheat significantly while the indicator lights on the battery flash and the battery never really charges, which can potentially be a problem. So make sure whatever USB adapter you use to charge the battery has enough power output and draw to allow the pack to charge safely.
