There are several things we like about the iPad, we couldn’t just name one or two. In fact there are so many features packed into this revolutionary device that we organized and structured what we could into three nifty sections to give you a good overview of why this device will only grow in popularity moving forward.

Thin and Light

The iPad is an incredibly unique, high-resolution Multi-Touch device that’s so thin people often wonder where all of its power is stored. That’s one of the first things people notice. It weighs 1.5 pounds and is 0.5 inch thin with a slight curve to the back so it’s easy to pick up more comfortable to hold than a flat device. It has 10 hours of battery life whether you’re surfing the web on Wi-Fi, listening to music or watching video. The built-in speaker delivers a powerful, rich sound especially through headphones. There’s also a built-in microphone.

Multi-Touch LED-Backlit IPS Display

Everything you see and touch is displayed on a 9.7-inch LED-backlit Multi-Touch display. So if you’re familiar with the iPhone you’ll be pleased to know that the technology has been completely reengineered for the much larger iPad surface to make it more responsive and amazingly precise.

Wireless and 3G

The iPad has built in Wi-Fi that automatically locates the fastest Wi-Fi networks. It’s Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR compatible also. There is a 3G model with lightning fast speeds up to 7.2 Mbps for situations where there is no Wi-Fi network available.

Surf the Web
The iPad comes equipped with Safari which is an excellent browser. You can even view pages in portrait or landscape depending upon how you hold the iPad while your fingers do all the surfing.

Check Email
Anyone who is familiar with the Mail app on the iPad knows how versatile and easy it is to check your email.

View Photos
Because the LED screen delivers rich vivid color, viewing photos on the iPad is an incredible experience. You can open photo albums with just a tap and flip through pictures with even more ease than on an iPhone. Slideshows and photo-sharing is available also.

Watch HD Video
You can watch crystal-clear HD movies, TV shows, podcasts, music videos, and more on the large 9.7 inch screen.

The YouTube App
There is actually a YouTube app that was designed specifically for the iPad. With YouTube’s popularity Steve Jobs is pure genius for this because videos are even easier to find than they are on the YouTube site and better to watch..especially when you watch in HD.

iTunes
The iTunes store is just a touch away with millions of songs, movies, TV shows, podcasts and more. You can also listen and organize your music the same you would on a iPod…only much more efficiently so it’s much more fun. You could host a party from an iPad alone.

iPad App Store
Shortly after launch the App Store already had over 150,000 apps and the iPad is capable of running nearly all of them. See the Apps section below for more details.

Read iBooks
iBooks are very crisp, clear and bright on the iPad. You buy these from the iBookstore in which you only need to download the free iBooks app to access.

Maps
Maps is an absolutely incredible application. It actually doesn’t run off GPS but uses Wi-Fi to determine your location. It features street view, satellite view, and new terrain view using Google services.

Productivity
The iPad hosts an extensive suite of productivity apps that you just can’t live without:

  • Notes: Write down or email reminders
  • Calendar: Easy to read appointment scheduler and date reminder
  • Contacts: A step beyond just names and numbers
  • Home Screen: Tap the home button and have access to every app
  • Spotlight Search: An extensive search feature

Here’s what we really like. If you already have apps on your iPhone or iPod touch all you simply need to do is sync them to the iPad from a PC or Mac. These apps will run in their original size, but you can expand them to fill the entire iPad screen. How is that for ingenuity? There is an Apps store icon on your home screen in which you’re just one tap away from browsing apps specifically designed for the iPad. You can also download iPhone and iPod touch apps as well. If you tap the Genius of icon you will enter Genius recommendations for apps which will recommend apps you may like based on previous downloads.
